Since a wee lad, I’ve been interested in type. It started with graffiti, but I’ve since grown to appreciate all kinds of type ranging from calligraphy to letterpress, and everything in-between. As I continue to try new ways of exploring type, anything that deserves long-term sharing will be posted here.

Baduizm

A fan of the Fillmore concert posters from the 60’s-70’s, I attempted to recreate and modernize that look with an Erykah Badu poster. In her headwrap are the track names from her debut album Baduizm. The process can be viewed again at step 1, step 2, step 3, and final.
Black Coffee

I’m not really a coffee snob, but I do like it sans cream and sugar. This idea was birthed by this picture that was doctored by Steph and supposed to be me

While squeezing text within a given space was nothing new, doing it with a very structured feel was. For the text, of course, when ideas are running thin, you can always go with your moniker. Here’s both right side up and upside down.
