rants and whatnots about art and my creative process
I’ve been sketching a bit more recently and felt like giving some Photoshop love to one of my newest critters.

Here are some doodles from yesterday’s class. I’m on a rockabilly kick after seeing this. I’m gonna try my best to have a little something ready for a valentines day post. Peace.
With no ‘real’ job, I’ve had to develop habits to make sure that I stay on track. While the following may come as ‘no-brainers’, they might be helpful to you – maybe directly or to be passed on. So, without any further delay…
Time management. Super important! Though my only true time commitments come in the form of class schedules, without some kind of discipline, I could easily get sidetracked. Here a few key items I practice:
- Waking up. Whether I have early or late classes (or weekends), I try to maintain some sort of consistency.
- Assembling my day into 1 or 2 hour blocks. While I never actually schedule when I’m doing what, I try not to spend more than 2 hours on one project. It allows me to stay fresh and not frustrated.
- Determining block importance. For fun projects, just one hour – especially if they’re non-paying. It’s not to say that I don’t revisit the fun projects again during my day. I just have to make sure that I take care of other (re: paying) business.
Ok. I hate to end this so abruptly, but this blog IS one of my fun projects, so I need to refocus. Here’s another update on the album (I know it’s taking forever, but it’s a non-paying project). Peace.

You’ve reached the pinup portion of this site. Simply put, I enjoy drawing pinup girls and experimenting with various styles when I do. I’ll be updating this portion from time to time, but you’ll have to check for that ;P In the meantime, any and all comments are welcome.
Happy Bday Paul

As a freelance artist (re: no real job), I not only have stay on top of my game, but I have to network and hustle. While networking isn’t so hard, hustling is, and even harder, is staying dedicated to my craft. It basically comes down to time management. But between school and the Warriors, it’s not as easy as I’d like it to be. Anyways, today’s image is a collage of old sketches that I’ll be refining to present for possible commission work. So between that, the album cover, and a school installation (I’ll post pics of that by this weekend), I have a lot of work cut out for me. Hey, it’s all about paying your dues.

Two things that made yesterday interesting.
1- I experienced my first taste of real conflict in the world of design. Although I’ve always known that collaborative efforts sometimes don’t go as smoothly as you’d like them to, I learned that I need to separate feelings and business. In retrospect, I let my feelings get the best of me, and ultimately handled the situation incorrectly. Now starts the process of fixing that relationship.
2- I may have landed a commission based on this piece. I’ve always been partial to the design, and it’s been really well received by those that I’ve showed it to. So, here’s keeping my fingers crossed.
Lastly, check out this site: Effiesheart. The owner is mad cool, and hopefully we’ll be doing a considerable amount of collaboration.
Well… that’s all for now. I’ll try to post an update on the album cover during the weekend. Peace.
